We ask all clients to agree to our Terms of Service before starting research.

Work will commence only after the client has accepted these Terms of Service.

lifeSTORY Family History Research is a genealogy/family history research company.  We undertake research in the UK.  Research is undertaken from international clients provided their ancestors are from the United Kingdom..

TERMS OF SERVICE

 

ENQUIRIES
 

When we receive an enquiry, we will trace as much information as possible to allow us to determine whether we are able to successfully provide further research services.
 

This initial Assessment is free of charge.

 

If we are unable to help, we will inform the client as soon as possible. 

 

If we are successful in our initial research, we will inform the client  and if the client wishes to proceed with the research we will request a deposit of 50% of the cost of the fixed price package chosen.  A deposit of £15 is required for the hourly research..  No further research will be conducted until we have received the deposit.

RESEARCH
 

Once the deposit is received, we will carry out the research as far as records allow.  We will provide occasional updates on the research.

lifeSTORY Family History Research will carry out research as agreed with the client but cannot guarantee success, as this is often dependent on external factors.
 

Genealogical information provided by the client to lifeSTORY as part of the basis of research will be taken as accurate. lifeSTORY will not be held responsible for research undertaken on the basis of inaccurate or incorrect information provided by the client.

 

For hourly research the client is encouraged to set an initial limit on expenditure.  This limit can be revised as research progresses.

If the client wishes to terminate the research contract before completion lifeSTORY Family History Research will determine the charge for work already completed at the rate of £15 per hour.

PAYMENT

 

Payment is only accepted in Pounds Sterling

 

lifeSTORY Family History Research accepts payments by bank transfer (details on request) and by credit card via PayPal.  Payments made by credit card via PayPal will incur a 5% surcharge to cover fees (a PayPal account is not required).

​

In addition to research costs, (unless covered within your research package) I also charge for additional expenses as follows:

​

• GRO certificates of birth, marriage and death (£9.25 - cost price)

• Post-1858 English and Welsh wills, grants of probate and administrations (£10).

If the client wishes to terminate the research contract before completion lifeSTORY Family History Research will determine the charge for work

already completed at the rate of £15 per hour.

lifeSTORY Family History Research retains the right to withhold all research documents until full payment is received.
